I grew up in the '90s, and still hold onto the belief
that the best work challenges its audience.

Whether writing, directing, producing, or tinkering,
I tend to focus on real people caught in ridiculous circumstances—
facing a future yet to come, or navigating an imagined past.

Ted Kupper is a Los Angeles-based writer, filmmaker, and artist creating innovative work across various media. A veteran Hollywood feature screenwriter, Kupper's creative versatility extends to literature, podcasting, music, and visual art. More recently, Kupper has focused on exploring the intersection of storytelling with cutting-edge technologies, like generative AI and Virtual Production using Unreal Engine. A graduate of the University of Southern California and an alumnus of the Almanack Screenwriters on Nantucket, Kupper is excited to help define what storytelling is in the coming technological age.

Writing for Film

Wrote Corner Office (Lionsgate), which premiered at Tribeca 2022 and was nominated for Best Screenplay at Raindance 2022, and Perfect (Brainfeeder), which premiered at SXSW 2018. Has written on assignment for Focus, Paramount, Illumination, and several independent producers. Wrote The Red Baron, a Nicholl finalist and perennial script-list item, about the real reason legendary cartoonist Charles Schulz got so famous.

Writing for TV

Staffed on season four of Mr. Robot (USA) and has developed for major studios including AMC.

Writing Graphic Novels

Co-author with Jon Perry of Let Go, a graphic novel published by SLG Publishing, and currently working on Constellation, a new speculative fiction sci fi graphic novel (and behind-the-scenes podcast) about a world where everything is simulated, and everyone knows it.

Writing for Advertising

Has worked with top ad directors on global campaigns to produce written treatments, scripts, and hybrid pitch materials. Story Consulted for HP The Wolf film featuring Christian Stater and directed by Mark Romanek.

Directing

Co-directed with Jon Sims two music videos using cutting-edge virtual production, Internet Restaurant by Estonia Bologna and Medusa by Featured with Lucia Cifarelli. Co-directed with Julie Nicole Cohen AI-powered mockumentary: Page Is The Rage.

Visual Art and Music

Co-designed and created This Bear with Jon Perry and was a member of Interrobang, Cubits, and Beats Motel, playing classic LA venues past and present like the Echoplex, Airliner, Lot 1, Five Star Bar, Non Plus Ultra and more. Produced The Pristines (s/t) and Clandestino by Xolo Fox.
